Interview with Adunni, Author of “Fruit of the Spirit”

Hosted by Joe Benjamin

Host: Welcome Adunni! It’s great to see you. Congratulations on this amazing work of art.

Adunni: Thank you. It’s a privilege to be here.

Host: Fruit of the spirit, my goodness! What is this book all about, and why did you put it together?

Adunni: The journey started two years ago when the idea came to write books for children. The Holy Spirit ministered to me about the “fruit of the spirit.” With my experience with children in church, I did extensive research, looking into the Bible and used the voice of my characters in my imagination to write. The idea materialized on the first of May 2021.

Host: So, you’ve been sitting on this idea for the last two years, is that correct?

Adunni: Yes, exactly. Not really that I sat on it, but everything has its time. When God’s appointment time came, I linked up with you on Facebook and joined your program on the 28th of May, exactly two years after the idea came to me. Working with Dr. Joe and the publishing company has been a blessing.

Host: That’s wonderful. Tell us more about the book.

Adunni: The book aims to impact children aged three to five. It’s about understanding God’s love and how they can reciprocate that love to others, respect their parents, love their neighbors, and serve God.

Host: That’s a powerful message. Now, I see that there are some characters in the book. Can you tell us a bit about them?

Adunni: There are three main characters: Nick, Dani, and Prissy. These are the names of my children, and I had to seek their consent to use them in the book. They are also the reflection of my three children’s character.

Host: That’s beautiful. What challenges did you face during this journey?

Adunni: Nothing is easy. Perseverance is key. During the lockdown, I began writing, even though I am a qualified nurse. Writing was a God-given talent, and He connected everything for me. Also, facing rejection from other publishers was tough, but with the right help, the idea came to life.

Host: Why focus on children?

Adunni: As a Sunday school teacher for 22 years, I’ve always enjoyed teaching children. It’s essential to teach them while they’re young so they can grow with those values. My aim is to encourage children to get closer to God, especially in today’s world where social media has a significant influence.

Host: You have been a Sunday school teacher for 22 years; how does this influence your writings?

Adunni: Teaching Sunday school has given me firsthand experience with children, understanding their needs, curiosities, and how they perceive God. This experience has significantly influenced my writings, as I aim to communicate God’s message in a manner they can easily understand and relate to.

Host: That’s truly inspiring. What’s next for you?

Adunni: I have another book in the works, also titled “Fruit of the Spirit,” but targeted at older children, aged six to eight. I aim to go more in-depth with this book.

Host: That’s fantastic. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, Adunni.

Adunni: Thank you for having me, and thank you to everyone who supported me on this journey.
